*Watch out Oprah: Valerie Bertinelli signed a deal with CBS to host her own talk show. It could debut as early as next year. Girlfriend has a lot to talk about!

*Ashlee Simpson has been wearing a diamond ring on her left hand. She says it's a "promise ring" from her boyfriend, Pete Wentz.

*Last night was elimination night on American Idol. Jason, Robbie, Alexandrea and Alaina were sent home. Ryan Seacrest said a new set will be revealed on March 11 when the Top 12 perform and there will be a new exit song written by former Idol Ruben Studdard (so that's what he's been up to....)

*New movie in theaters include the Will Ferrell basketball comedy Semi-Pro and The Other Boleyn Girl starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson

DIANE'S CELEBRITY DIRT - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27

*The top 10 guys performed last night on American Idol and they saved the best for last. 17-year-old David Archuleta did an awesome job singing John Lennon's "Imagine" and all of the judges agreed that it was the best of the night. Paula was very moved and was tearing up and Simon said David is the one to beat! Tonight, the ladies perform at 8:00 on Fox.

*Pamela Anderson is looking to get her brief marriage to Rick Soloman annulled, listing "fraud" as the reason.

*Justin Timberlake will introduce Madonna when she's inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10

*Paris Hilton is returning to reality TV on a show in which she will search for a new best friend. I guess Nicole Richie is too busy with the baby!

*Lisa Marie Presley just turned 40 and she's expecting her 3rd child with her 4th husband. Thank goodness she didn't have kids with hubby#2--Michael Jackson.

*Matt Damon signed on to do a 4th Bourne film. He said he wouldn't, but $$$$$ talks!

"PERFECT" CELEBRITY FACES

*Are you curious to see what celebrites make up the perfect face? Using the results of a new survey by Beverly Hills plastic surgeons, photos of the most requested celebrity body parts were morphed to create the "perfect" faces (see photos, left.) That's what happens when you combine Daniel Craig's baby blue eyes, Leonardo DiCaprio's nose, Matt Damon's lips, Christian Bale's jaw and John Stamos' hair. The "perfect" woman is a combination of Katie Holmes' eyes, Katherine Heigl's nose, Keira Knightley's cheeks, Jessica Simpson's long blonde hair and — not surprisingly — Angelina Jolie's lips. Hmmm...all of the celebs mentioned above are great-looking, but combined, not so much--in my opinion....

*It has Hollywood's big night last night--The Academy Awards. The big winner was the movie No Country For Old Men, which won 4 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. Here are some of the other winners:

The hot trend on the red carpet was RED! Katherine Heigl (my pick for best-dressed--see photo,) Miley Cyrus, Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren and Heidi Klum were among the stars in red gowns.

Ryan Seacrest and Jennifer Garner had an awkward moment on the red carpet. Gary Busey (who appeared to be intoxicated) highjacked Seacrest's interview with Jennifer--and kissed Jen's neck, much to her horror! She looked terrified, Seacrest didn't know what to do...the magic of live television!

*Angelina Jolie showed off her baby bump in a curve-hugging black dress at the Independent Film Awards over the weekend. The question is--is she expecting twins as some tabloids are reporting?????

*Britney Spears was reunited with her sons for 3 hours on Saturday after lawyers reached a visitation agreement. She had not seen the boys since January 3 so I'm so glad that the little guys got to see their mommy.

*Twins are "in!" Rumor has it Jessica Alba is expecting twins. Jennifer Lopez is set to give birth to her twins any time now. Jennifer checked into a hospital on Long Island and will be a new mommy very soon!

*Pink posted a message on her official website explaining that her divorce from Carey Hart is not about cheating, anger and fighting. Pink and Carey said they will remain best friends.

*Jessica Simpson could soon become Mrs. Jessica Romo. Friends say we could hear an engagement announcement from Jessica and quarterback Tony Romo in the near future because they are so in love! But will Jessica be allowed to attend Cowboys games?

*A judge delayed Britney Spears' trial for driving without a license until March 20.

*Sorry, "24" fans: you have you wait until January 2009 for a new season

*Paris Hilton is devastated after being banned from the Oscars--that's not hot! She already picked out a designer dress but she will probably wear it to some exclusive Oscar parties.

*Christina Aguilera introduces her newborn son, Max to the world in a photo spread in the new issue of People Magazine. He's a cutie!

*Britney Spears has been staying out of trouble lately, so a judge ruled that her dad will remain in control of her affairs until at least March 10, when the next hearing is scheduled. Even though Brit has been on her best behavior, I hear that she's been text-messaging friends from inside her house, complaining that she's bored.

*George Clooney and Nicole Kidman will be among the presenters at the Oscars next Sunday night. Amy Adams will perform the nominated song from Enchanted. By the way, Amy is in talks to star with Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum 2.

*Poor Paris Hilton--her movie, The Hottie and the Nottie has been named the worst film of all time by users of the Internet Movie Database (that's not hot!)

*Nelly Furtado is reportedly pregnant with her second child (ahhh, that explains her dress choice at the Grammys.) Uma Thurman is not pregnant--she just put on a few pounds after quitting smoking.

*A major cable network offered Kevin Federline $200,000 for a sit-down interview and he's seriously considering it--but there is one topic that will be off-limits: Britney Spears (that's no fun!)

*GREAT NEWS: The writers strike is officially over! The writers voted on an agreement last night with Hollywood Studios and they are going back to work today. Some TV series will return in the Spring with a handful of new episodes. The strike was resolved just in time for the Oscars next weekend--yeah!

*Former Different Strokes star Gary Coleman revealed that he secretly got married last August to a 22 year-old woman he met on a movie set. He said this is his first romantic relationship. Can you believe Gary is 40? I feel old!

*Fergie's mom, Terri commented on rumors that her daughter is pregnant. She said Fergie is not pregnant and described her as looking "skinny, skinny, skinny" at the Grammy Awards. The ladies here at the office think Fergie is preggers...

*I feel sorry for the Hilton parents--another one of their kids was arrested. Paris' brother, 18-year-old Barron Hilton was arrested for D.U.I. and reckless driving

*American Idol finally went Hollywood last night as Simon, Randy and Paula had the difficult task of picking the Top 24 finalists. We'll find out tonight who they are....

*Britney Spears logged some kiddie time Monday, but not with her own kids. Brit taught an hour-long dance class to 6 kids (hey, it beats clubbing and shopping at all hours of night.)

*The writers strike is expected to end tonight! Yeah! Writers will vote on a contract with Hollywood studios and they could be back to work tomorrow.

*Those Fergie pregnancy rumors have started up again. Reports say she may bump (no pun intended) up her wedding date to Josh Duhamel because she's preggers. I don't think she looked pregnant at the Grammys but you never know...

*Get well wishes go out to Lenny Kravitz, who was hospitalized in Miami for severe bronchitis

*Carrie Underwood may be heading to the big screen if she finds the right movie role

*Amy Winehouse cleaned up last night at the Grammys, winning 5 awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Amy performed via satellite from London and seemed genuinely happy about winning the awards. She lost out on Album of the Year to Herbie Hancock. My picks for best-dressed: Carrie Underwood, in a low-cut, bold floral print gown, Fergie in a simple, yellow strapless gown and Alicia Keys in a royal blue, high neck halter gown.

*The divorce battle between Paul McCartney and Heather Mills is heating up! They went back to court today--Heather reportedly wants a $150 million settlement. Now there's a new report that Heather cheated on Paul for 6 months while they were married.

*The on-screen chemisty between Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson is box office gold. Their new romantic comedy, Fools Gold is the new #1 movie, taking in $22 million over the weekend.

*Happy Birthday to my favorite female celeb: Jennifer Aniston is 39 today and Jen's friend, Sheryl Crow is 46.

*Another day, another star in rehab. Kirsten Dunst checked herself into the same rehab center in Utah where Lindsay Lohan was treated.

*Amy Winehouse was denied a visa to enter the U.S. so she won't be attending the Grammys Sunday night, but Amy is expected to perform via satellite. I think the Grammys are going to be good this year--Beyonce and Tina Turner are singing together, Rihanna will perform with the 80's band The Time and Michael Jackson is rumored to be making an appearance. Remember, the red carpet coverage with Ryan Seacrest on the E-channel starts at 6:00PM and the Grammys start at 8:00 on CBS

*Donald Trump's ex-wife, Marla Maples and "Will & Grace" star Sean Hayes may be contestants on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars

*Britney is out! Britney Spears was released yesterday afternoon from a Los Angeles psych ward after a court found "no just cause" to hold Britney against her will. Needless to say, her parents and doctor are disappointed and frustrated. After being discharged, Brit went to her lawyer's office, then to the Beverly Hills Hotel with her paparazzo boyfriend (here we go again--back to the same lifestyle!) Britney is back home now. I hope she will be okay out of the hospital!

*We now know what killed Heath Ledger. The toxicology report was released yesterday and the New York City medical examiner ruled that Heath died of an accidental overdose of six prescription drugs. Now federal drug agents want to know how Heath got the prescriptions so an investigation was launched.

*Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane ("Dr. McSteamy") revealed that he successfully battled skin cancer on his lip. Glad he's okay! You can read about Eric's story in the new issue of OK! Magazine.

*Fergie is in the beginning stages of planning her wedding to Josh Duhamel and she said she stocked up on lots of bridal magazines. A wedding date has not been set yet...

*9-months-preggers Jennifer Lopez attended a fashion show this week during NYC Fashion Week and she looked stunning--all glammed up in a short, blue dress! Jennifer said she gets dressed up all the time and refused to wear sweatpants, even while she's pregnant.

*Britney Spears mom, Lynn claims that Britney's manager, Sam Lufti, drugged Britney and verbally abused her. The claims were listed in the restraining order against Lufti, which was granted.

DIANE'S CELEBRITY DIRT - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5

*Superbowl 42 was the most-watched Superbowl ever, with 97.5 million viewers. That means it was the second biggest TV event in American history. Only the Mash series finale in 1983 was watched by more people (106 million.) A parade is being held in New York today for the Superbowl Champions, The Giants.

*Britney Spears' dad, Jamie is still co-conservator of Brit's $40 million estate until at least February 14. A judge made the ruling yesterday after Britney tried to fight it because she doesn't trust her dad. And you thought you had a dysfunctional family....

*The toxicology report on Heath Ledger is expected to be released very soon, possibly today. Meanwhile, Heath's family arrived back in Australia to prepare for his funeral and burial.

*The annual Oscars luncheon was held in Hollywood yesterday, in which the nominees gather for a "class photo." The Oscars will air on ABC February 24 and there is a good chance that the writers strike will be over soon--just in time, so the stars will show up!

DIANE'S CELEBRITY DIRT - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1

*I was surpised to hear this: Grey's Antaomy star Justin Chambers, who plays Dr. Alex Karev checked into the same psych ward where Britney Spears is staying due to exhaustion and a sleeping disorder. He has five kids so I can see where lack of sleep could happen. Justin checked in Monday and stayed for three nights. His Grey's co-star, Katherine Heigl was shocked to hear about it from the paparazzi and she immediately got on her phone to get the scoop.

*Britney Spears is on a 72-hour emergency hold at UCLA Medical Center, but I hope they can get her (either voluntarily or by court order) to stay longer. Hospital sources say Britney has been classified as "gravely disabled." That means the patient is unable to take care of basic needs, such as the acquisition of food, clothing or shelter.

*After getting a lot of criticism, Entertainment Tonight and The Insider decided not to air a controversial video of the late Heath Ledger talking about drug use at a Los Angeles nightclub. A rep for the show said they cancelled the airing of the video out of respect to Ledger's family. It's a little too late for that explanation in my opinion--they paid 6 figures for the video and only pulled it for geting so much heat. I think I'll stick with Access Hollywood from now on....

*Jennifer Lopez is due to give birth any day now, but she needed one more big shopping spree for baby clothes. Jennifer spent $5000-$8000 on baby clothes at a Long Island mall.
