*Britney Spears was committed! Britney is finally getting help after being taken by ambulance this morning to UCLA Medical Center. Her psychiatrist determined that Britney posed a threat to herself and others. She didn't resist when the doctor told her she was going to the hospital and seems to be more open now to treatment. Sources say she hadn't slept since Saturday. Britney will be held there for at least 3 days and possibly up to 2 weeks. I hear that her mom, Lynn wants her to come back to Louisiana when she gets out of the hospital. I will keep you up to date on the latest....

*Ethan Hawke and his former nanny are expecting a baby. He has two kids with ex-wife Uma Thurman.

*The Hannah Montana concert movie opens in theaters tomorrow and it set a record for online pre-sales. By the way, Miley Cyrus said she's not dating Nick Jonas--they're just friends!

*Gwen is definitely preggers! Gwen Stefani's father-in-law confirmed that Gwen and her hubby, Gavin Rossdale are expecting their second child. He said the family is thrilled! Some reports are saying that Gwen is 13 weeks into her pregnancy.

*Star Magazine is reporting that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony picked out these names for their unborn twins: Max and Emme. Since the report is in a tabloid, I'll wait to see the birth certificates...

*The writers strike could be over soon!! Writers and Hollywood studios have made progress in talks and some insiders are saying the strike could be over by the end of the week. I hope so--I'm going thru Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives withdrawal!

*Britney Spears and her mom Lynn have reunited, but the reunion has gotten off to a rocky start. The two have been fighting all over town since Mama Spears arrived in Los Angeles.

*Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus legally changed her name from Destiny Hope Cyrus to Miley Ray Cyrus. Miley has been her nickhame because she was always smiling growing up. Her new middle name is a tribute to her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. I think Miley should have legally changed her name to Hannah Montana!

*More drama at Britney Spears' house last night! Her parents showed up to try to stage an intervention, Britney ended up in tears and the cops were called due to the crush of paparazzi. Britney's manager said earlier in the day that she was getting help for a treatable mental ilness. Meanwhile, a judge ruled that Britney can call her two sons even though she lost visitation rights.

*There was a rumor that Jennifer Lopez went into labor yesterday, but Marc Anthony said it's not true.

*Gwen Stefani may be pregnant. A new report says Gwen is expecting her second child.

*Alicia Keys will perform in the Superbowl pregame show this Sunday and a pre-taped performance by Paula Abdul will air. American Idol Jordin Sparks will sing the National Anthem. Kickoff time for the Patriots vs. Giants is 6:17PM (Go Giants!)

*Miley Cyrus ("Hannah Montana") is only 15 years old, but she could be a BILLIONAIRE by the age of 20! Miley has deals for movies, a clothing line and her own fragrance. Just don't work too hard, girlfriend!

*Did you see the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night? Angelina Jolie is pregnant--in my opinion. The rumors have to be true. Angelina was wearing a loose, flowy gown and she had that special glow that you can not achieve with makeup. It was great to see her look so happy!
Ryan Seacrest called out sick for the SAG Awards. He was supposed to interview the stars on the red carpet, but he was home sick in bed. Poor Seacrest--his crazy schedule must be catching up with him!

*New Kids on the Block fans are going to freak out! The hottest boy band of the '90's is planning a comeback and an official NKOTB tour announcement is expected soon. They probably got inspired by all of the $$$$ the Spice Girls are making on their reunion tour.

*Nicole Richie had a date night with her fiance, Joel Madden and she's skinny again two weeks after giving birth to daughter Harlow. Then again, besides the baby bump, she didn't have much weight to lose.

*Does Jessica Biel know that Justin Timberlake was spotted making out with a brunette at a New York Club???

DIANE'S CELEBRITY DIRT - WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23

*I was shocked to hear the news that Heath Ledger died at the age of 28. Heath's body was found by his housekeeper yesterday afternoon in his New York City apartment. An autopsy is being performed today, but indications point to an accidental drug overdose as the cause of death. Two bottles of sleeping pills were reportedly found near Heath's body. He leaves behind a 2 year-old daughter with former fiance Michelle Williams. Heath was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Brokeback Mountain and he recently completed filming on the upcoming Batman movie, The Dark Knight, in which he plays The Joker. That movie is scheduled to open in theaters in July. It's just so sad--Heath Ledger was so young and so talented!

*Britney Spears is back with her creepy paparazzo boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib. No wonder why his wife just filed for a legal separation! Adnan was driving Britney's car last night and crashed into a guy on a motorcyle.

*Despite the rumors, Reese Witherspoon is not engaged to Jake Gyllenhaal.

*The movies No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood lead the Oscar nominees with 8 nominations apiece, followed by Atonement and Michael Clayton with 7 each. Here's a list of some of the nominees:

*A few new movies open in theaters today, including 27 Dresses starring Katherine Heigl, Mad Money and Cloverfield. I can't wait to see 27 Dresses over the weekend because I can relate to the "always a bridesmaid" dilemna! If the new movies don't appeal to you, I would recommend The Bucket List starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. I loved it and there wasn't a dry eye in the movie theater. Sometimes you need a good cry, right?

*Britney's multiple personalities? A source says Britney Spears has multiple personality disorder. When she speaks in a British accent, she assumes another identity and doesn't remember what she said or did later. Meanwhile, this is creepy: the Associated Press has an obituary already written for Britney just in case anything happens to her. It's not uncommon for news organizations to have obituaries prepared for high-profile people, but usually they are old or sick.

*Did Sienna Miller break up Sean Penn's marriage to Robin Wright? There's a photo of Sienna sitting on Sean's lap and it looks pretty suggestive. Friends of Sienna and Sean say they are just friends and Sienna flirts all of the time. That can get you in trouble, girlfriend!

*There is a Katie Holmes controversy--some people are questioning whether Katie actually ran the New York City Marathon. She looked pretty tired to me at the finish line!

*Madonna reportedly spends $10,000 a month on bottled Kabbalah water! I just paid $9 for 2 cases of Poland Spring at Target.

*Gwyneth Paltrow was briefly hospitalized in New York Monday for an undisclosed illness, but she returned home and is said to be doing fine.

*High School Musical star Zac Effron had his appendix removed after being rushed to the hospital. Wishing you a speedy recovery Zac!

*Customers and sales staff at a Betsey Johnson clothing store in California were shocked when Britney Spears came out of a fitting room naked! There is a report that Britney left a suicide note before her standoff with police a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if that's true, because if it is, it would be the ammunition her family needs to get her help, even if she doesn't want it.

*Did you see the season premiere of American Idol last night? There were several contestants from South Jersey that aired on the auditions from Philly, including Joey Catalano from Mays Landing, who got a golden ticket to Hollywood. Go Joey!!! The Idol auditions continue tonight from Dallas.

*Are Gwen Stefani and Eva Longoria Parker preggers? They both said the rumors that they are pregnant are not true. Eva said she gained 10 pounds due to the writers' strike since she has plenty of time to cook and eat. She must be up to at least 99 pounds now!

*It was a chaotic scene yesterday as Britney Spears arrived at her child custody hearing. Brit never made it inside the court. She left after paparazzi surrounded her, saying she was scared. Britney's visitation rights to her two sons remain suspended. My heart breaks for those kids and for Britney!

*A report says Nicole Kidman wants her parents to deliver her baby!

*I only watch the Superbowl for the commercials, so I'm looking forward to Justin Timberlake's Pepsi Stuff commercial during the game on February 3.

*A new poll says Ellen DeGeneres is America's favorite TV star, followed by Oprah and Jay Leno.

Christina Aguilera and her hubby, Jordan Bratman are the proud parents of a baby boy named Max, who was born Saturday.

*Britney Spears doesn't believe in the rule that you should only wear your wedding dress once. Brit stepped out over the weekend in her old wedding dress. While car shopping with her boyfriend, Brit was wearing the short, white, lacy dress from her 2004 wedding to Kevin Federline. What a sad, sad girl....

*Jennifer Aniston and David Spade--Hollywood's new hot couple? Jennifer and David went on a mini-vacation together, but insist that they are just friends. Didn't he say that about Heather Locklear?

He cancelled plans to dedicate today's show to Britney, calling the situation "too intense." Good decision, Phil!

*Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned to The View from maternity leave yesterday and she brought her 2-month-old son Taylor to work. What an adorable baby!!

*I am bummed about this: Sunday's Golden Globes Awards were cancelled due to the ongoing writers strike. Instead, NBC News will cover a press conference in which the winners will be announced (boring!) They better get this resolved before the Oscars next month!

*Britney Spears was released from the hospital Saturday, but before she left, she got a surprise visit from Dr. Phil. Sources say Britney was ambushed by Dr. Phil and didn't want to speak with him at first, but eventually came back into the room and they talked for about 15 minutes. I guess I'm not the only one that thinks Dr. Phil crossed the line by going there. He has been defending his actions, saying that Britney's family contacted him and requested that he pay a visit. Dr. Phil's show tomorrow is dedicated to Britney and mental illness, but Brit will definitely not appear. A new report says Britney did not test positive for drugs or alcohol during her hospital stay and family friends say she has bipolar disorder.

*Joe Jonas from the Jonas Brothers had an accident backstage at Boardwalk Hall Saturday before the Hannah Montana concert. Joe had to get stitches after hitting his head on a wall, but he's fine.

*Jessica Simpson and her football star boyfriend, Tony Romo spent a romantic weekend in Mexico. Jessica's parents were there, too. Hmmm...maybe it wasn't so romantic after all.

*Britney Spears is a mess (as if you didn't know!) Lat night, police were called to Britney's California home after she refused to hand over her two sons as scheduled to Kevin Federline's bodyguard. There was a standoff with police, who found that Britney was under the influence of an unidentified substance. She was eventually taken to a hospital by ambulance. Her son, Jayden James was also taken to the hospital but the reason was not released. This gets more sad by the minute! Britney is now undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. She needs help--and fast! I will keep you up to date on the latest developments...

*Lindsay Lohan suffered a setback in her sobriety on New Year's Eve. Lindsay was caught drinking champagne right out of the bottle in Italy. She's not going back to rehab and said she's already back on track. That midnight toast will get you every time!

*Despite saying she was going to work on her marriage, Pamela Anderson is moving forward with her divorce from Rick Soloman.
